     Dear visitors of the Limnology Institute web-site!

     The Institute of Limnology is the leading scientific institution in Russia in the field of limnology. The Institute develops theoretical and applied bases of limnology, as well as methods of deep integrated research of structural and functional features of lake ecosystems, the restoration of lakes and storage reservoirs, their use in the drinking water supply, fish farming and recreation, performs monitoring and management of lakes and the rational use of their natural resources.

     The institute surveyed lakes and reservoirs practically in all regions of the former Soviet Union: Kamchatka, Sakhalin, the Far East, Kazakhstan, Pamir, Tien Shan, Ural, Kola peninsula, Taymyr, the European territory of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine. In cooperation with foreign experts we executed the scientific researches in Finland, Sweden, Turkey, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, Mongolia, Canada, the USA, etc.

     We are ready to support new original scientific and applied projects and we are open for the mutually beneficial scientific cooperation.

The institute participated in the organization of conference « the Ecological condition of continental reservoirs of the Arctic zone in connection with industrial development of northern territories » which took place in Arkhangelsk in the period 20-25 June 2005
