The Conference «the Ecological condition of continental reservoirs of the Arctic zone in connection with industrial development of northern territories »

The Conference has taken place in Arkhangelsk from June, 20 till June, 25 2005. The place of its carrying out was the Arkhangelsk Scientific Centre of Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Science. There were 71 scientists who took part in the work of Conference, from them 2 Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Science - V.A.Rumjantsev and F.N.Judahin, 15 Doctors of Sciences, 26 Candidates of Sciences. The youth (till 30 years) has been widely submitted (17 person). There were also students of the Arkhangelsk HIGH SCHOOLS.

Participants represented 23 scientific organizations from 11 cities:

• Arkhangelsk - Institute of Environmental Problems of the North UB RAS, the Arkhangelsk Scientific Centre RAS, Northern branch of Polar Institute of Fish Industry.
• Vologda - the Vologda State Pedagogical University, Vologda laboratory - branch of State Scientific Institute of Lakes and Rivers Economy.
• Tomsk - Tomsk State University
• Khanty-Mansiysk - Open Society «SPC Monitoring»
• Petrozavodsk - Institute of Water Problems of the North, Karelian SC RAS, «Kubar»
• Murmansk - Polar Institute of Fish Industry
• Apatitys - Institute of Problems of Industrial Ecology of the North RAS

• Tallinn - Institute of Ecology

14 reports have been heard at plenary session. In this reports the main problems of continental reservoirs of the Arctic zone, their geoecological safety and features of spatial distribution have been discussed.

7 reports have been heard on section «Genesis and a history of development of northern lakes ».

6 reports have been heard on section «Influence of anthropogenous and nature-climatic factors on water ecosystems, methods of struggle against pollution ».

11 reports have been heard on section «Limnetic processes in northern reservoirs, the forecast ».

4 reports have been heard on section «the Fish population of northern reservoirs ».

7 reports have been heard on section «« Modelling and GIS ».

49 reports are read in total, 17 reports were placed on stands.

The urgency of the problem under discussion and novelty of the submitted results have been marked at final session. It was accepted decision to publish materials of conference.
